Misinformation, the new tool of terrorism...

I subscribe to a new emailing service and this was one of the reports I got yesterday:

-- Informant in Iraq admits information about a terror plot against New York subway was a hoax, sources tell CNN.

I got this in an email from Christina and I thought I would post it for her. I love her tenacity...

I just read your blog, but since I am not a blogger I couldn't post anything.

I just wanted to say that I was in NYC this weekend, and rode the subway everyday, despite the well circulated rumor of potential bombings. However, I had friends who took cabs exclusively all weekend.
Personally I thought, "Well if I die, I will feel like an idiot for eternity, knowing my death could have been avoided, but if not, I will have saved $12 in cab fare, each way." I opted to save the $24 cash, thinking that if God is as awe-inspiring as we believe God to be, than I wouldn't give my subway decision a second-guess in heaven.

Hope you're well,
Christina Maria

My daughter Sarah is living in Brooklyn now... working in Manhattan and riding the subway every day several times a day. So I was on the treadmill at the Y the other day and pulled my earplugs out when I saw a news report on the TV screen...people around me were kvetching along with the people on the TV news interviews, who were irritated that 'nothing actually happened.' "All this inconvenience and it was just a hoax," they complained. Um...remember when all those people were mad because they didn't get warned before 911? Yeah. I put my earplugs back in, cranked up the Dave Matthews, and uncharacteristically kept my sarcasm to myself.
