From the mouths of babes...

On Saturday night, a friend's daughter looked down at my feet and started mocking me because I wear socks with my Keens. I tried to tell her that my feet crack terribly when I don't wear socks but she just kept it up. She finally said that I looked like a german tourist at Bass Lake.

Sometimes Culture has nothing to do with health but it is only concerned with style.

Ha, nice. I proudly wear socks with my Birkenstocks in the winter and give the mocking right back. Although this year I'm considering moving to the ever-famous Birkenstock Boston.

I was helping an older gentleman out with form at the gym last week. He was doing something that will eventually lead him to a torn rotator cuff instead of a stronger heart, and I was telling him so. He wouldn't have it.

"The exercise is the movement, and the weights are only there to make it more difficult. You shouldn't use the weight until your body knows what to do with it because you're going to hurt yourself."

He actually said the weight he had looked better than what I wanted him to use.

Wear the socks, man!

I just spent a week at the beach in Florida, wearing socks an inordinate amount of time because my feet crack when I go barefoot.

Needless to say I can sympathize.

a healthy rotation of sockless shoe wearing (vans) and sockless sandle wearing has worked for me.

My first thought was, she should hear how much fun all of Europe makes of American tourists.

If I had to pick German fashion over Bass Lake fashions... I think I'm going with the Europeans.

Hope your heals stay healthy.

I think a fair compromise would be a pair of Cosby's "buy one and we give one away" shoes. They're almost like a shoe/sock combo and you could add a little color:)

Doesn't that thoroughly soil your socks, Tony?

I would certainly like to see sock adorned feet in sandals rather than feet plagued with dryness and cracks.

Besides, it's not about wearing the latest styles, it's about wearing your own style, and wearing it proudly. At least that's what they say on America's Next Top Model.

Own those socks with sandals!
